In 2023 we aim to compare the efficacy of herbicide packages for the control of problem weeds in herbicide tolerant lentils.
As lentils increase in frequency in Mallee rotations, broadleaf weeds are becoming an increasing issue. Spiney emex (three corner jacks, double gee) is of particular concern and is causing Mallee farmers to rethink their pulse crop choices.
The herbicide tolerant variety GIA Metro and associated label permit to apply metribuzin in crop offers increased potential to control problem broadleaf weeds, especially spiney emex which emerges later in the crop.
This trial will demonstrate GIA metro compared to the farmers current lentil variety, each with herbicide packages applied to in line with herbicide labels.
