Background

A new lentil variety combining metribuzin tolerance with imidazolinone is available and could improve the control of fumitory in lentils which has become a problem weed in the Mallee where lentils are grown in tight rotations. Combining the tolerance trait with new metribuzin usage practices could improve weed control options. The trial will be conducted in a location with known background population of fumitory.
This paddock was previously sown with wheat in 2021 and located in Ultima with red clay loam.

Aim

To investigate the effectiveness of metribuzin in the control of fumitory with the new metribuzin tolerant lentil GIA Metro.
To investigate the effectiveness of clopyralid in the control of fumitory with the new clopyralid tolerant lentil GIA Sire.
